Button remembers only that the fortress is evil. When he sees the clinic donation box filled with coins, bottle caps, buttons, and small salvage tokens, he declares it a "Shiny Tax" imposed by the Dark Empress.
Button and Crumb escape to return every Shiny to its "rightful owner." They scatter donation items around the waiting room, causing staff and visitors to chase rolling coins and runaway beads lest someone trip or choke on one. Crumb gives one shiny coin to a crying child, which inspires more people in the waiting room to donate to the hospital.

Button is re-bandaged after slipping on a coin. He takes medicine while declaring that the Shiny Tax has been "reformed, not defeated."
